Oakview is a contemporary, oak framed barn nestled within the mid-Wales countryside. The luxury, self-catering property is perfect for a couples retreat or 2 people looking for unusual accommodation in Wales. The cottage has open plan design with high quality furnishings throughout the well-equipped kitchen, sitting and dining areas. Within the main reception room, there are triple bi-fold doors, floor to ceiling glass panels and a stable-type front door so you can enjoy the scenery from inside, or easily access the garden and patio with the feature of a private hot tub tucked away to one side.
The large bedroom features a wall of glass to the front elevation, allowing additional views of the Welsh countryside from the comfort of your king size bed, or the free standing, copper bathtub. For your convenience and privacy, or if your tire of counting clouds and sheep, there are remotely controlled window blinds. There is a separate, wet-style bathroom with shower, basin and toilet.
Oakview is a modern barn built using traditional materials and sits gently within its rural location. It benefits from double-glazed glass, underfloor heating and a highly insulated hot tub fuelled by a combination of biomass fuel, solar and wind power. This unusual place to stay in Wales is less than 2 miles from the market town of Newtown, offering a wide choice of shops and places to eat, in addition to a theatre, art centre, cinema and museum. It also boasts 4 supermarkets and several independent food shops where you are able to pick up provisions for your self-catering holiday.
This dog friendly destination allows the first pet free of charge and provides designated dog exercising areas and outdoor wash areas. Walkers (and dogs) love this part of Wales for the number and diversity of footpaths. You may walk beside the River Severn, along Offa's Dyke, the Kerry Ridgeway route, the Severn Way or the Source of the Severn, to name nut a few. The Elan Valley and Hafren Forest is nearby with more beautiful walks and cycling routes and local attractions include something for everyone. Wander around Powis Castle, admire the gardens at Glansevern Hall, or for the adrenaline junkies there is downhill mountain biking, clay pigeon shooting, zip-lining, kayaking, canoeing and fishing all found locally, plus learning to rally drive at Carno. More information can be found on our Out and About page.
